What I Wore Today

Went to the Japan Embassy to apply for Visa because I am going to Tokyo agaaaaaiiiinnn inshaaAllah...:)

Can't Live Without Eyeliners

I look super sleepy without eyeliners, so even on days I don't wear makeup, I would still apply some eyeliner just to look less of a bedhead. I've been using a lot of eyeliner brands and I have to say that there are only a few that I approve. The latest edition to my eyeliner family that I TOTALLY approve are these ones from Revlon, which are the Revlon ColorStay Skinny Liquid Liner & Eye Liner. I have all 7 colors of them and my favorite are Blackout, Electric Blue, Amethyst (purple), and Gold.

The Revlon ColorStay Skinny Liquid Liner has an ultra thin applicator therefore I am able to create the perfect wing tip. Yay! :)

As for the Revlon ColorStay (Pencil) Eye Liner, the texture is soft and very easy to apply. It just glides nicely. The color pops out very well and they last the whole day too. Given the affordable price, I will likely choose these ones compared to the other brands I have been using. For real, ladies..:)

Don't Dream It's Over

I have been playing this video on repeat because I don't know, it just warms my heart and I can really feel the love and sincerity between the two and it's beautiful..:)

On Miley Cyrus herself, I've been a fan of hers since Hannah Montana but started questioning her extreme transformation ever since she twerked on the MTV Music Awards and continuously appeared almost nude on almost all opportunities possible. I wouldn't use the word "hate" because "hate" is a strong word, and "dislike" seems incorrect as well because like it or not, I still like Miley. Perhaps the word would be "disagree". I just disagreed with her actions and decisions because for a person like me who is deep down still conservative, I think she's crazy! With all that she's doing, I personally think Miley Cyrus was not being a good role model for the youngsters.

But over time, after I watched so many interviews that she has done, I can now understand her and started loving her once again. Despite her antiques, she has an extremely good heart and she stands up for the things she believes in - and that's a rare quality. On this note, Miley Cyrus is a good role model for the youngsters. And now I understand that actually, she does not represent "crazy". She represents "freedom". She believes in owning your body and being comfortable in it and just be yourself and be happy. Still, do I agree with her extreme actions? Nope. But can I understand? Yes, I can.

When we learn to understand why people do what they do, things can make sense, you know? :)

What I Wore Yesterday

Two And A Half Boy

My son is officially 2,5 years old today. Semi-happy birthday, my booooy! :)

On my end, this marks my 2,5 years journey struggling and juggling between being an entrepreneur / blogger / youtuber / author / host / wife / mom and my brain does hang at times..:D

But all this mess and stress is an investment for my life because neither can we repeat nor rewind time and these moments of constant craze will be missed. I am lucky to have such a supportive system where my husband and parents are willing to take turns in taking care of Shahmeer while I have to work. As they say, family is where everything starts and ends.

My message to all young parents out there: starting our own little family is totally fun and probably the best experience ever because we get to start a new chapter and a whole new life, but never forget moreover neglect our own parents afterwards because life - ours and theirs - should continue and expand. Always let them be a part of our new chapter. Let them feel the stress and mess because they actually miss it too. :)

Little Spot In A Vast Universe

It seems like an ordinary day, it always is for our children whose world is all happy and colorful and animated. But in reality, this world is moving to such a dark direction. Massive bombings and killings are happening almost every week, discrimination towards black people and muslims and refugees and other minorities are not stopping, and today there is a coup in Turkey. How do we explain this to our children? What do we do as parents and grandparents to provide a safer world for their future? Is it wrong for me to feel that praying only will not make a difference? That it is time for all of us to actually roll up our sleeves and get down to the streets and do something? I don't know. Tell me because my heart is crying and bleeding.

I realized something funny today. I realized that we sometimes forget being happy. Either we were drowned in our busy schedule or were too focused on something we didn't like, we forget that after all, happiness is a decision we make. I realized that this past two weeks has been overwhelming for me, that my focus was to just end the day and sleep. My goal was to sleep as loooong as I could. And I forgot to decide that in all this tiredness, I could at least feel happy about how beautiful my house is, how loving my husband is, how adorable my son is, and how things in life are just where they should be.

I never thought 'happiness' can actually be like an object in our daily lives that we forget to bring inside our bag. Either that, or simply a switch inside our heart we just forgot to turn on.

Eid Mubarak!

Alhamdulillah. Extremely grateful to be able to celebrate another year of Ramadhan and Eid together with my family. Thank you, Allah...:')

In this year's Ramadhan, I have learned that our act of giving is actually not for the benefit of the receiver but instead, for the benefit of ourselves. Giving is joy. It heals our sorrows, fills our emptiness, and replaces grief with relief. It also makes us closer to God because God loves those who share and give. I have witnessed people who were not really grateful for the things I have given or donated to them, and I felt really sad because the intention was to make them happy but unfortunately it did not. So I reminded myself that at the end of the day, we give what we can. Even the less-fortunate people are human beings with flaws, therefore may lack gratitude and respect to those who are trying to help or simply being kind. So let them. Believe it is Allah who opens the best doors in life for us, not other people. Do not aim to make other people happy. Aim to make Allah happy.
